Twister is a 1996 American disaster/thriller film starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton as "storm chasers" researching tornadoes. It was directed by Jan de Bont. In the film, a team of storm chasers try to perfect a data-gathering instrument, designed to be released into the funnel of a tornado, while competing with another better-funded team with a similar device during a tornado outbreak across Oklahoma. The plot is a dramatized view of research projects like VORTEX of the NOAA and the device, called Dorothy, is copied from TOTO used in the 1980s by NSSL.
Throughout the film the chase team uses many different CB radios, most of which are Cobra brand.
The 23 Plus was manufactured from 1989-1995.
Bill Harding had a Cobra 23 Plus CB radio in his 1995 Dodge Ram, along with a Uniden BC-350A scanner and a car phone.
Bill's truck was equipped with a 4 foot fiberglass CB antenna, 3 foot fiberglass scanner antenna and a 20 inch cell phone antenna all attached to a custom made mount on the driver's side rear fender.
